MadeIt Fashion Week is here featuring the Fold|2 collection!!!

Origami E&E 08 copyIMG_4311-B

The Fold|2 Collection from MadeIt Patterns features modern design inspired by the Japanese art of origami. The collection, created by designers Olu Falola and Anna Bruce, is pure awesomeness. The lines are interesting and the construction is borderline genius … truly some of the best constructed garments I have every made.

The first outfit our model, “Eden”, is showing off on the virtual catwalk is the Petal Fold Playsuit Separates, a supplement available to go along with the Petal Fold Playsuit Pattern.

Both the top and culottes have interesting triangle inset detail accented nicely by piping. The patterns piece together perfectly and the pattern instructions are fun to follow with bits of humor infused throughout.

I used quilting cotton from the new Emma & Mila fabric line available in the States at JoAnn Fabrics and Walmart. This fabric line has a great variety of prints all with metallic gold accents. The modern prints are perfect for the modern Fold|2 patterns.

“Eden” was feeling very “high fashion” in her own words and loved that she didn’t have to hold a smile 😉

Did I mention the pockets?!?! What kid doesn’t love pockets?

…. and those buttons down the back! Swoon. You all know how much I love back buttons. We finished the look off with an origami butterfly in her hair.

I hope you loved the first look … on to the next!

For our second look, “Eden” is sporting the Pleat Fold Top and Pocket Fold Skirt.

“What? You can’t handle the fierceness???”

We chose Option 1 on the Pleat Fold Top which has a peplum hem. I used a plum rayon/linen blend from JoAnn Fabrics for the main part and made my own bias tape from the skirt fabric. The Pleat Fold Top is a quick sew with stylish results.

The Pleat Fold Top calls for the straps to be attached straight down the back, but we chose to do a quick adaptation and criss-cross the straps.

The Pocket Fold Skirt is my favorite pattern of the bunch. I mean, they’re all amazing, but this skirt is out of this world! Olu and Anna really outdid themselves with the design lines, fit and construction. Pure genius. Our Pocket Fold Skirt made from a plum/ecru Marimekko print. I love it so much I just might make myself a skirt out of it as well 😉 The pocket and waist accents are from the same linen as the top.

…. And these wood buttons. They are amazing up close. I’m realizing now that I should have taken a close up. Oh well, you’ll have to trust me – they are beautiful.

Once again, we topped her off with a little origami.
